Biographic comments

Andalusian Ṣūfī and scholar. He was born in Murcia but grew up in Sevilla. His studies brought him to various towns in Spain and North Africa. Later he traveled in Anatolia and Syria, finally settling down in 627 in Damascus where he spent the rest of his life teaching and writing. His surviving works are on taṣawwuf.
