Biographic comments

He is a legendary hero and sage of pre-Islamic Arabia. In the Qurʼān he appears as a monotheist and a wise father giving pious admonitions to his son. In later Islamic traditions he became the creator of fables and was consacreted as the wise utterer of proverbs.
