He belonged to the Gujarat branch of the Yemeni al-ʻAydarūs lineage. His great-grandfather was Šayḫ b. ʻAbd Allāh (d. 919 H), brother of Abu Bakr b. ʻAbd Allāh al-Aydarūs (d. 814H).
