Biographic comments
Prime minister and President of Egypt, he organized the coup that finally brought to Power Ǧamāl ʻAbd al-Nāṣir. The latter dismissed and imprisoned Naǧīb. He was released only in 1972, after the death of ʻAbd al-Nāṣir.
