Biographic comments

One of the most prominent figures of Yemeni Sufism, he belonged to the Rifāʻiyya. He was a disciple of the famous ʻUmar al-Ṭayyār, under whom he went through spiritual training. He was also known as faqīh and preacher, which gained him the nickname of "Ibn al-Ǧawzī of Yemen". He wrote extensively on different subjects, e.g. grammar, jurisprudence and Sufism.
