Possibly a direct disciple of Ibn ʻAṭā' Allāh al-Iskandarī, but textual evidence puts him as a disciple of Ibn Maylaq, one of the successors of Ibn ʻAṭā' Allāh at the head of the Šāḏiliyya in Egypt.
