The Zawāl al-taraḥ fī šarḥ Manẓūmat Ibn Faraḥ is wrongly atributted to him.
He could be identified to the so called šayḫ ʻAlī of Gondar if we attend to the fact that he is mentioned as one of the few followers of the ṭarīqa Naqšbandiyya in the mid-Nineteenth Century in Ethiopia and his pretended grandfather al-Sammān was also affiliated to this order.
