Born in the district of Surdad, in Yemen; he tought in the madrasa Muǧāhidiyya in Taʻizz and then in the Niẓāmiyya in Zabīd; in this town he also held the office of qāḍī and died there in 837/1433. He wrote works on jurisprudence, poetry, adab literature, history and Arabic language.
