Ḥanbalī faqīh and traditionalist theologian. He is said to have been a member of the Qādiriyya ṣūfī ṭarīqa. He condemned the veneration of saints and the visits to their shrines. His political, legal and theological writings have influenced modern movements such as Wahhabism and Salafism.
