Biographic comments

Aḥmad was the son and successor of amīr Abū Bakr b. ʻAbd al-Mannān. Aḥmad was the ruling amīr of Harar when the British explorer Richard F. Burton visited the city in 1855. Burton described his visit in the book First Footsteps in East Africa.
Amīr Aḥmad commissioned the writing of Daftar taqwīm al-iḥsāʼ aʻnī al-istātistīk al-harariyya (AAIE00290).
