Biographic comments

Italian geographer and explorer. Born in Pavia in 1855, in 1885 moved to Egypt to work as engineer. Between 1888-91 he traveled in the Horn fo Africa. He brought back to Italy anthropological and archeological findings, now at the National Museum of Anthropology and Ethnology in Florence.
His travels are narrated in different accounts where he carefully reports botanical, geological, linguistic and ethnological information, together with a large photographic collection (now preserved in the Civic Museum of Pavia). His manuscript collection (mainly in Arabic, some of them expressly copied for him) are preserved ini the Civic Library "Carlo Bonetta" in Pavia.
