Biographic comments

He was the 11th Amīr of the ʻAlī b. Dā'ūd dynasty and ruler of the city-state of Harar for almost 12 years. His father was the 8th Amīr of the dynasty, Yūsuf b. Abī Bakr, and his mother was ʻAlawiya bt. Saʻīd ʻAlī. He reformed the administration securing the continuous production of written records. Further, he reintroduced coin minting in Harar. He built a mosque in Bāle, in the area of Šayḫ Ḥusayn. The mosque was dedicated to ʻAbd al-Qādir al-Ǧīlānī underlining the Amīr's support to the Qādiriyya ṭarīqa.
